A Better, Easier Way Than “The Sad Step” (Scales)

I DITCHED THE SCALES

It’s probably been 2, possibly 3 years since I last weighed someone. Yes! A fitness facility that DOESN’T weigh people.

It’s a complex area but I’ll try to give the main reasons why. Weight is unpredictable. This is a huge one. No matter how hard you’ve been working, no matter how ‘good’ you’ve been – you WILL weigh more than you did the day before, at some time.

**And as humans who crave instant gratification, this can mean throwing everything up in the air, giving up, convincing ourselves that the process doesn’t work.**

When one person called the scales “the sad step” I finally had enough! I don’t use it as a gauge myself, it doesn’t make me happy. Why am I giving it to other people????? So I stopped. There had to be a better way.

And I think we’ve found it.

ROME WASN’T BUILT IN A DAY – PATIENCE

We ask people to RELAX. Weird huh? But it seems to work. Let me explain more. We bring people in on trial periods only. This is their chance to see if they like how we do things. And it’s our chance to see if they’re a good fit for our program. This could be 21 days or 30 days only.

The world will NOT be changed in such a short space of time. It’s only a chance for someone (who might be nervous about the gym environment) to take a small, tentative step into a world that has failed them before.

So we ask people just to RELAX. Focus only on meeting us, enjoying sessions, learning how to exercise properly, experience quality coaching, take very small steps – and worry about the big stuff later.

(Definition: BIG STUFF: portion control, macronutrients, protein intake, calories, meal timings, supplementation, mindset, stress management ….)

All we ask of people (on top of sessions) is to drink some water, go for a walk, get to bed a bit earlier, avoid being glued to social media). Simple right?

Well, as you can see, this simple process is producing results – both weight loss and producing happier, fitter, more energetic people.

We think this is a much more effective method than meal plans, weekly ‘guilt’ calls to stop you eating chocolate, with bad moods, a rumbling stomach and cravings!

No contest! 🙂
