So What If You DON’T Have A Goal?

Posted On December 16, 2021

This might surprise you! 👇
Fitness is all about having goals, we hear.
Striving to be stronger, fitter, leaner. Being better than before. High-5s after a big lift and ringing the ‘Personal Best’ bell when you’ve done so.
But I was thinking: THAT’S NOT MY GOAL.
In fact, for a second, I had to think, “Do I even HAVE a goal?”.
**NOT having a goal is blasphemy in the fitness industry handbook!!**
You see ……
— I don’t care what I lift, how heavy it is. So long as I feel strong and toned following a session.
— I don’t care how many calories I burn. So long as I feel good in my clothes
— I don’t care how big my chest, or arms or legs are, so long as I have confidence and can do everyday things with my kids.
— I don’t care how my performance ranks against anyone, so long as I feel fit and strong and proud of my efforts.
— I don’t care about any of it. I want to feel happy, confident, at ease, fairly stress free and capable.
This goes against the all-consuming goal setting attitudes that circulate through fitness. And I like to pass that on to people who join our ranks.
Sure, it’s nice occasionally to test ourselves and see what we’re capable of, to push ourselves hard when we feel we’ve got the drive.
But largely, does it really matter that a 50+, average person hasn’t got a target or a goal in mind, aside from wanting to feel good and life to be easier?
We’d love to know your views on this? Is goal setting important? Or can you be happy WITHOUT a target? Pop a comment below!

Does Success Mean Being “Thinner”???

Let's talk "RESULTS". What do "results" mean. We'll hazard a guess to say 99.9% of people (including trainers) will = WEIGHT LOSS. Success will largely be defined by a drop in scale weight or a before-and-after pic. "To get results, you need to train 3 times a week...
